Turkish Mazu Yachts recently launched Mazu 92 DS is the first in a line of full-displacement vessels. It is the small sister of the Mazu Yachts Displacement Series made out of Steel Hull and Composite Superstructure.
The 92 DS’ length is 28,45m. many head-turning details, the most visible being its chunky, plumb-bow exterior. The forward section pairs with a vertical windshield in the pilothouse to create a profile that is imposing, more like a commercial vessel than a yacht.
Mazu 92 DS is made of steel. Her exterior is memorable – the front of the yacht combines with the vertical windshield in the wheelhouse to create an imposing profile that makes her look like a commercial vessel rather than a private yacht.
Her striking interior was created by Turkish Red Yacht Design, one of the memorable parts of which was a large piece of yellow quartz with a panel running from the aft bulkhead of the main deck saloon to the forward bulkhead of the lower saloon.
The main deck takes up the entire extra boat and includes a bathroom and dressing area. The lower deck can accommodate a further six guests in two single cabins and a second VIP cabin in all variants.
The open lower saloon features a large L-shaped sofa to port and a bar to port, separated from the beach club yacht by a sliding glass door.
It's a thoughtful design that creates a sea-level entertaining area with access to water and sun, as well as a place to shelter from the elements. It is also completely isolated from the rest of the boat.
Another notable exterior shape is the flybridge, which thanks to its full table width. The superstructure here is made of carbon fiber. The lounge chairs and tabletop bar are shaded by a hardtop with slots that open electrically to control sunlight or rain.
According to the shipyard, the 92 DS is the world's first steel-hulled vessel with Volvo IPS propulsion, a type typically found on much smaller fiberglass motor yachts. The proposed Mazu designed its hull around three Volvo Penta IPS 1050 engines, each producing 800 horsepower, before they received Volvo's approval.
Mazu 92 DS has a speed of 18 knots and a range of 1,170 nautical miles.
Turkish Mazu Yachts has been designing and producing Open and Hard-Top Motor Yachts and Superyacht Tenders since 2011. The state of the art facility of 3000 sq. m indoor and 1000 sq. m outdoor space also accommodates carpentry shops and paint booths for creating an anti-dust environment.
