Repainted, refitted and having her machinery upgraded at the Dutch shipyard in a matter of weeks, the legendary charter superyacht Sherakhan able to accommodate 24 guests in her 12 cabins is ready to set off for Antigua.
The yacht arrived for a major refit at Icon Yachts on September 13. The most noticeable change was the 70-meter hull being repainted to a minimalistic white color from its original vintage blue hue. Along with cosmetic adjustments to the yacht’s interior areas and A/V upgrades, her main generators were replaced with low emission ones to reduce the impact on the environment.
The following behind-the-scenes video gives an idea of the amount of work being accomplished in just a few weeks.
With a beam of 12 m and a draft of 4.05 m, she has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Twin Caterpillar engines of 1380 hp each give her a maximum speed of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots.
Her technical characteristics allow her to cruise to the most remote areas of the planet, accommodating up to 24 guests within her 12 staterooms.
Sherakhan will be available for charter starting from December in the Caribbean and then in Northern Europe in the summer of 2018.
The boat is on the market asking €24,500,000 since 2016. This follows Verkerk's fleet expanding with a new flagship, the 77-meter Legend that he converted into a superyacht in 2016 at the Icon facility as well.

Built by A. Vuijk & Zonen in 1965, the classic yacht started out as Princess Margaret. Its present owner, Dutch entrepreneur Jan Verkerk, managed to breath a new life into the boat in 2005, when it was rebuilt at his yard and renamed to Sherakhan.
