The 64th Genoa International Boat Show officially opens today, September 19, showcasing the vibrant international yachting industry. The grand ceremony will take place in the presence of esteemed guests, including Ignazio La Russa, the President of the Italian Senate, and Matteo Salvini, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructures and Transport.
The inaugural conference, titled "Sea Policy: Charting New Courses for Italy's Competitiveness, An Outlook for the Yachting Industry," will commence at 11:30 AM, with an opening address by Italian Business Minister Adolfo Urso. The conference will be chaired by Matteo Salvini and is organized by the Italian Marine Industry Association.
Later in the day, at 2:30 PM, the "Boating Economic Forum" will delve into market trends and data pertaining to the yachting industry, presented by the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Market Intelligence and Research Department alongside the Edison Foundation.
Taking place from September 19 to 24, 2024, this year's event features a series of institutional presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at promoting Italy's modern maritime sector. The traditional flag-hoisting ceremony on the scenic Terrace of the Blue Pavilion will mark the occasion, with dignitaries such as Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci and other military and regional leaders participating in the opening proceedings.
A highlight of the event will be the recognition of Olympic champions from the Guardia di Finanza, Marta Magetti and Francesco Bocciardo, who celebrated their victories at the Paris 2024 Games.
The afternoon will continue with the Forum24 – a comprehensive program of conferences and workshops under the sponsorship of the European Commission. Kicking off at 2:30 PM, the "Boating Economic Forecast" will provide an in-depth analysis of the latest yachting market data, delivered by Stefano Pagani Isnardi and Prof. Marco Fortis.
Additionally, the Forum Hall will host a conference titled “Yachting, Tax and Customs” at 3:45 PM, addressing pivotal regulations affecting the industry. This session will feature discussions led by notable figures from the Italian Marine Industry Association.
The Eberhard & Co. Theatre will also commence its events, starting with an America's Cup-themed discussion at 2:00 PM, followed by a press conference from the Italian Harbour Offices focusing on summer safety statistics.
The day will conclude at 7:00 PM with "Bitta64," a series of cultural events in the VIP Lounge of the Blue Pavilion, highlighted by Giovanni Grasso's presentation of his latest novel, adding a cultural touch to this prestigious maritime exhibition.
