Burgess Marine has relaunched the 55m superyacht Lady A, following a 10-month refit period at its facility in Portsmouth in the UK.

Built by Japanese shipyard Nishii Zosen-Sterling in 1986, the yacht was previously known as Southern Cross and was reportedly purchased by Lord Sugar not long ago.
Nicholas Warren, Managing Director of Burgess Marine, said:
It’s absolutely fantastic to welcome another substantial refit to our Portchester facility. The fact that Lord Sugar, such a well-known entrepreneur, business magnate and self-made man, has chosen to bring his boat back to the UK’s south coast for a refit is great, great news. He’s a very experienced owner and charterer; we look forward to working with the owner’s team and delivering the boat back to the client on time and on budget
Lady A is one of the most famous vessels of her time featuring the design from Jon Bannenberg. She accommodates 12 guests in a master stateroom, four doubles and one twin guest cabin. From a technical standpoint the superyacht is powered by twin 2,000hp Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines providing her with a top speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

Lady A has arrived at Burgess Marine in September 2015, when the shipyard announced that the refit will include structural, mechanical and electrical modifications, as well as the installation of new Naiad stabilizers and improvements to both interior and exterior. Her refit project was handled by the owner's team, naval architecture was managed by Houlder, whilst Burgess Marine acted as the primary contractor in partnership with Shemara Refit.
