Camper & Nicholsons has announced that historic yacht Madiz is now offered for sale. The esteemed vessel, now represented by senior sales broker Jean-Marie Recamier and yacht sales advisor Jessica Ruez, is set to captivate the discerning market with its rich heritage and timeless elegance.
Originally crafted in 1902 by Ailsa Shipbuilding in Troon, Scotland, Madiz stands as a testament to maritime craftsmanship and enduring allure. As the largest classic motor yacht currently available for sale at 55.4 meters, Madiz holds a distinguished position in nautical history.
Boasting Lloyd's classification, Madiz has weathered the passage of time with grace, earning the distinction of being the oldest vessel in operation of its kind. Commissioned by James Coates Jnr and designed by the legendary G.L. Watson, Madiz was conceived as a mothership to complement Coates' majestic sailing yacht.
Throughout its storied journey, Madiz served in various capacities, including duty in the Royal Navy Auxiliary Patrol Service during World War I. Resuming its role in pleasure yachting post-war, Madiz traversed the Mediterranean under the ownership of the Hon. John North before finding a home in the care of Greek businessman Costas Keletsekis.
Under Keletsekis' stewardship, Madiz underwent a comprehensive refit in 2003, restoring its classic charm while ensuring compliance with Lloyd's Register standards. Acquired by its current owners in 2010, Madiz has since been meticulously maintained, preserving its original features while embracing modern comforts.
Today, Madiz stands as a beacon of classic yachting, offering accommodation for 14 guests across seven cabins and being powered by two Mercedes 250Hp engines. The vessel has a dedicated crew of 10 and a complement of tenders, including a 6m Riva Superflorida.
Available for viewings by appointment in Perama, Greece, Madiz invites prospective buyers to embark on a journey through maritime history while experiencing the timeless allure of classic style yachting.
