Following a major refit that took place at Oceania Marine in New Zealand's Whangarei in under four months, the 54m Damen-built Sea Axe support vessel Advantage has been successfully launched by the Auckland-based Diverse projects. The conversion consists of the installation of a submarine garage, newly configurated deck and the fitting of Quantum stabilizers. Moreover, the vessel now boasts a new grey and white paint job.
The transformation includes the removal of 60 seats and the installation of three new guest cabins, a captain's cabin, a mess area and an office on the main deck. The lower crew area and galley were further upgraded with the addition of a fit-for-purpose cool room.
Outside on main deck, a new Bolidt synthetic deck has been applied, a stern anchor fitted to the transom area and a submarine garage installed, which was constructed offsite and will greatly enhance the mothership's exploration capabilities.
"A phenomenal amount of work has been done in a short period of time," commented Diverse Projects director Lars Bjorklund. "This is an absolute credit to the yard and all involved, given the wide ranging and very specific compliance requirements entailed in a refit to this scale. This is yet another refit managed by Diverse Projects that speaks to our ethos of precision scope delivery and outcomes."
Advantage superyacht support vessel will soon leave New Zealand to join the mothership in Tahiti, Following the installation of her on-deck tender crane, testing of the stabilizers and fulfilling classification requirements.
