50m Book Ends Delivered by Heesen Yachts
Heesen Yachts has announced the delivery of YN 19850 M/Y Book Ends to the owner, an experienced American yachtsman. The 50 meter yacht is part of the aluminum semi-displacement series and is the first of its kind below 500 GT to comply with IMO Tier-III regulations. An optimized, low-drag, lightweight aluminum hull with a reduced transom depth brings efficiency gains of around 12 per cent. She is perfectly sized to access shallow Bahamian creeks and the smallest Mediterranean ports, thanks to her reduced draft of just 2.15m. “Building a new boat on time and on budget is always a challenge. This past year was particularly challenging with the remnants of Covid and Various Sanctions. Despite what seemed like overwhelming odds, the Heesen team continued working closely with the Book Ends team in Oss to make the dream a reality” comments Bob Book, the owner. “Thanks to an extraordinary combined team effort, this state-of-the-art vessel has been delivered on time with the highest Heesen standards of excellence. This boat is not a “Race Horse”, it is a Race Car”. While I thank the entire Heesen team, I must give a special “THANK YOU’ to Mark Cavendish for his much needed sense of humor and determination for keeping all concerned on the path forward, and to our Captain Mark Lacey”. Book Ends can accommodate twelve guests across five staterooms, with the master suite on the main deck forward and the spacious remaining suites found down on the lower deck. The yacht also offers plenty of outdoor areas for her owners, family, and friends to enjoy life at sea. The beach club will bring them close to the on-water action, while the generous sun pad area on the main deck terrace is perfect for post-swim relaxation. Al-fresco dining can take place either on the bridge deck aft terrace or up on the spacious sundeck. “Being entrusted for the second time in under four years by such an experienced yachtsman is a source of great pride to our shipyard. Everyone worked tirelessly to ensure the owners and their family could enjoy their new yacht this summer. May their days onboard Book Ends be filled with fun and joy wherever they may cruise!” comments Friso Visser, chief commercial officer at Heesen.Book Ends is a thoroughbred racehorse of a yacht with a top speed of over 23 knots and with a cruising speed of 11 knots, she boasts a transoceanic range of 3,100 nautical miles. 43m Oceanic 143 Flagship Launched by Canados
The Oceanic 143’ Tri-Deck was launched on June 29, 2022. Roman shipyard will officially introduce its new Oceanic Line Flagship at the upcoming fall Boat Shows. Capitalizing on over seven decades of yacht building, Canados started producing the Oceanic line of boats aiming at bringing to the market the unique concept of an Explorer styled yacht in terms of design and range with much more than the 13 knots usual top speed offered by most explorers on the market. The yacht offers extremely long-range capabilities and a 24 knots top end speed. She is the result of an in-house design and engineering with interiors by Michela Reverberi Design from Rome. The Oceanic particular hull architecture, named by Canados Technical Office as “Displanning” was developed by the shipyard. This hull architecture can provide for optimum comfort at displacement speeds between 8 and 12 knots with minimum hydrodynamic drag to reduce fuel consumption; extremely stable from idle to top speed; capable of 24 knots top to allow owners, when onboard, to move rapidly from a destination to another. Moving a 43-meter by 8.2-meter beam tri-deck yacht at 24 knots is not an easy task. The Oceanic 143’ is powered with three of the all-new Caterpillar C32 B-Series 12-cylinder 3-Turbo engines developing 2400 hp each. For performance reasons as well as to reduce draft and allow the boat to anchor as close as possible to the beach, the three shafts are installed in tunnels, allowing draft to be reduced to about 2 meters. With about 385 Gross Tons, two guest cabins, two VIP suites and a full private owner’s deck, the Oceanic 143’ Tri Deck also benefits from spacious outdoor decks. The aft deck, equipped with an infinity tub, an oversized lounge, game and coffee table, bar with summer kitchen and dining table for 12 people is over 105 sq. m. The two owner’s deck terraces are respectively 44 sq. m and 15 sq. m. The sun deck, with bar, sun pad, wing stations and a Turkish bath inside the mast is about 70 sq. m.Finally, behind the massive transom door is a teak dressed air-conditioned gym where two electric cars can be stored and unloaded onto the dock with the Opacmare® Evo-Transformer hydraulic swimming platform. The Oceanic 143’ Tri-Deck will undertake dock trials until July 20 and will then undergo its sea-trials period. The Canados shipyard was founded in 1946, on an ex-hydroplane base. Since then, more than 800 Canados yachts have been delivered. The shipyard is located in Rome, just 7 km from the international airport of Fiumicino and produces motor superyachts and semi-displacement yachts and has a range of 14 models from 13 to 43 meters.Credits: Canados
Invictus GT320S To Showcase at Cannes
Invictus GT320S, the fourth outboard model (after GT280S, TT280S and GT370S), is set for the world debut at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival 2022. The characteristic half-reverse bow, blends with the linear profile of the large side windows which, together with the double Yamaha outboard engines, help to convey the dynamic character of this boat. "The outboard configuration strongly expresses and states the character and soul of the owner who chooses it, letting the boat reveal its sporting vocation and attitude," claims Christian Grande, designer of this new Invictus model as well.GT320S comes with a bimini top that can be automated or, on request, equipped with a carbon hardtop and integrated lighting bodies, a solution usually found on much bigger boats. The space usually dedicated to the engine room on the sterndrive version here is converted into a large living area, much bigger than on similarly sized boats. Below deck, the large linear windows provide natural light. At the bow, the dinette area houses a storage unit that can be converted into a bed, in addition to the large aft double bed, equipped with stowage spaces and wardrobes. The bathroom is in the center of the boat and has all the comforts needed to fully enjoy life on board. The 9,93 m Invictus GT320S is equipped with a pair of Yamaha outboard engines with 300 HP, but the shipyard can also satisfy the most demanding owners who desire even more speed, allowing the possibility of reaching up to 900 HP in total. The boat is available in eleven color combinations, from the lightest to the darkest, and with four types of deck upholstery to satisfy all requests, from the most modern to the most classic appeal. The external colors are always coordinated with the Composite Gray version of the below deck interiors. In addition to the Invictus GT320S, the Italian shipyard will be at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 with two more models. The TT460 flagship could not be absent, with its taut, essential lines that combine style and attention to performance: two Volvo Penta IPS 650 engines are on board of TT460. The third model on display is Invictus GT370. The Italian shipbuilder produced open type boats with multiple vocations. The debut production will include two ranges of leisure boats, corresponding with two types of propulsion: inboard-outboard for the “GT” series, more tending to leisure and sailing, and outboard for the “FX”, more technical and sporty.
