Greenline Yachts Leads the Way Not Only on Hybrid Propulsion at FLIBS 2024
Greenline Yachts is set to make a splash at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (October 30 – November 3) with an impressive lineup of four hybrid models showcased at G Dock 715-717. Each model highlights Greenline's pioneering 6G Hybrid Drive technology, featuring a large solar roof and achieving up to 40% lower CO2 emissions. Notably, starting in 2025, all Greenline yachts, whether equipped with hybrid or diesel propulsion, will operate without a diesel generator. Greenline 40The showcased yachts, including the Greenline 39, Greenline 40, Greenline 45 Fly, and Greenline 48 Fly, represent the Slovenian shipyard's relentless commitment to sustainable yachting and advanced technology. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore different layouts, including sleek coupé designs and versatile flybridge options, exemplifying Greenline’s user-first philosophy.Greenline 39"Greenline Yachts is thrilled to return to Fort Lauderdale, a region where we’ve seen considerable success," said owner and CEO Vladimir Zinchenko. "The American market appreciates our user-inspired features and the appeal of silent electric operation. With Washington state waiving sales tax on new hybrid yachts, there’s never been a better time to join the Greenline family and potentially save over $100,000."At the heart of Greenline’s offerings is the revolutionary 6G Hybrid Drive, which integrates electric propulsion with conventional diesel systems to optimize efficiency and minimize noise. This system allows for seamless transitions between electric and diesel modes, providing nearly silent cruising for up to 20 nautical miles in electric mode. The diesel engine, meanwhile, serves to recharge the batteries during longer journeys, maximizing energy use and minimizing waste.Greenline's 6G H-Drive is available across its entire range, which spans from 39 to 58 feet, and is designed for environmentally conscious boating. Testing indicates that this innovative system can reduce the carbon footprint of a Greenline yacht by up to 40%. This hybrid setup, combined with solar roofs and a lithium battery bank, enables yacht owners to power their onboard appliances without the need for a generator—making it a nearly emissions-free option.Greenline 45 Fly“The 6G H-Drive gives us a competitive edge, but it's not just the hybrid technology,” noted CCO Luca Raumland. “Every Greenline yacht has always included efficient diesel engines, solar roofs, and lithium battery banks, creating a setup that's ideal for regions without constant air conditioning needs. Recognizing that some clients still prefer a backup generator, we've been working to eliminate the need for one entirely. Beginning in 2025, even our non-hybrid models will operate generator-free, ensuring a commitment to eco-friendly yachting.”The yachts on display at FLIBS 2024 promise a sophisticated blend of spacious design, panoramic views, and indoor-outdoor connectivity.Greenline 48 FlyHighlights include:Greenline 39 Accommodates up to six people with two spacious cabins, a bright salon, and a well-equipped galley, generating up to 1.1 kW through solar panels.Greenline 40 Features an open layout with two cabins and a maximum solar output of 1.98 kW from six solar panels.Greenline 45 Fly Redefines comfort with a midship owner's cabin, VIP guest cabin, and multiple layout options, producing up to 1.6 kW of solar charge.Greenline 48 Fly Sleeps up to nine with three to four cabins and offers exceptional convenience for longer journeys, generating a maximum of 1.6 kW via solar panels.Greenline Yachts are crafted in Slovenia within the European Union. A Closer Look at Tillberg Design of Sweden’s 316m Latest Project
TUI’s newest premium cruise ship, Mein Schiff 7, sets sail with a stunning interior by Tillberg Design of Sweden (TDoS), a member of the Viken Group. This 316-meter vessel features luxurious details such as authentic mosaic flooring, intimate Asian dining options, and a selection of cozy single cabins, all crafted by the pioneers of the 'cruise yacht' concept. As a methanol-ready vessel designed for near-carbon neutrality, Mein Schiff 7 not only redefines technical capabilities but also pushes the boundaries of design. Credits René Supper for TUIA significant transformation took place around the ship's iconic glass diamond structure, where a two-deck atrium – dubbed Große Freiheit in homage to the famous Hamburg street that launched the Beatles – has been reimagined as an Italian piazza by TDoS.Credits René Supper for TUI“The piazza floor features a ceramic mosaic,” explained Malvina Guarnieri, Design Director at Tillberg Design of Sweden. “We designed the tile arrangements in various colors, aiming to evoke the feeling of entering a piazza. Even indoors, we incorporated design elements to create an outdoor ambiance.”Credits René Supper for TUIThis atmosphere is further enhanced by a golden Vespa scooter in the piazza and comfortable outdoor-style seating that offers La Spezia restaurant an inviting essence of relaxed Italian life. In contrast, the Hideki restaurant presents a distinctly different aesthetic, capturing the spirit of Asian dining through traditional wooden beams, rice-paper lanterns, and a beautifully patterned carpet—creating smaller, intimate dining spaces.“We aimed to offer varied seating arrangements for diverse dining experiences, from private rooms to cozy banquettes topped with wooden pergolas for added privacy,” added Guarnieri.Credits René Supper for TUIWith a capacity of nearly 2,900 passengers, Mein Schiff 7 boasts an impressive array of dining options, ranging from the intimate La Spezia to the Japanese-Asian Hideki.“What we appreciate about our designs is that while each area possesses its unique character, they also transition seamlessly from one to another,” Guarnieri noted. “We believe that achieving a sense of 'flow' is essential to the overall experience, easily felt upon boarding. Our designs are welcoming, featuring engaging architectural elements and a pleasing variety without being overwhelming.”TDoS has also introduced a groundbreaking feature to Mein Schiff 7 – single staterooms – catering to the rising demand among solo travelers. Located on Deck 4, there are 26 single cabins, each measuring 8 square meters. These staterooms share the design language of the standard cabins, with muted blues for upholstery, white-stained oak cabinetry, and carpets featuring wavy patterns reminiscent of undulating sand dunes. Beyond their visual appeal, much effort has gone into ensuring these cabins are as sustainable as possible.“We considered the environmental properties of every material, focusing on local sourcing and emissions,” Guarnieri stated. “For instance, we chose the Dansk Wilton Origin collection for carpets, which utilizes undyed wool. Our design approach encompasses both the standard and single staterooms.”As part of the Viken Group, Tillberg Design of Sweden collaborates with a network of elite design talent, including Italy’s famous Hot Lab design studio and Thalia Marine. With extensive experience in the luxury cruise ship sector and a wealth of expertise in yacht design, this synergy of ideas and techniques fuels the creativity of this formidable design powerhouse. The Viken Group includes Tillberg Design of Sweden, Hot Lab and Thalia Marine.
