Project Shu, the 136-meter Lurssen new build, has now been delivered and renamed Flying Fox. Now the world's 14th largest yacht, Flying Fox has left Germany for Norway according to AIS data. The previous yacht to cruise under that name was a 74-meter Nobiskrug.



With an exterior by Espen Oeino and an interior by Mark Berryman, the yacht's key features include two helipads, capable of hosting the largest helicopters out there. Another highlight of the 136-meter Flying Fox is the large swimming pool located aft of the main deck. The superyacht also boasts large sea terraces, swim platforms for watersports.



Stretching across a beam of 20.5-meters, the yacht had previously completed sea trials in March and May 2018.  Interior design reportedly centres around neutral tones and a calm and spacious interior.



With an estimated 9,100 GT, Flying Fox ranks as the 14th largest yacht in the world.



The previous yacht to cruise under the name Flying Fox was a 74-meter Nobiskrug delivered in 2010 with a similar colour scheme to that of the 136-meter. Listed on the market in 2017 by Imperial Yachts, the same company that handled the build of the 136-meter, that yacht was sold in November 2017 and is now known as Dytan.



The 74-meter was also known to cruise together with a support vessel built as part of Damen's SeaAxe series in 2014, the 67-meter 6711. With strong helicopter and watersport capabilities, the support yacht was listed for sale at the same time as the 74-meter Nobiskrug and sold in February 2018 through Imperial Yachts. She is now back on the market again asking €34,950,000 through Verpeka Dolling.



The delivery of the 136-meter Flying Fox at Lurssen comes ahead of a series of scheduled deliveries by the German shipyard, which is set to include the 111-meter Project TIS and 95-meter Project Fiji amongst others.

Isaac Burrough Design unveils 110m Kiwa superyacht concept
Amsterdam studio Isaac Burrough Design has revealed a 110-metre superyacht concept. Inspired by Māori guardian of the ocean ‘Kiwa’, this motor yacht concept was named after it.The studio, located in The Netherlands, is headed up by designer Isaac Burrough, who has a life-long passion for yachting. Since the launch of his own design studio in 2018, Burrough released five concepts to the public, most of them being below 60m, until now.Burrough said about the project: The intention for Kiwa was to design a yacht that is both modern and elegant. Her sleek silhouette combined with curvaceous surfaces gives grace despite her exploration capabilities. A yacht that will look sophisticated whether cruising the Mediterranean or the ArcticAccording to Burrough, the Kiwa concept "reimagines sustainable seafaring" because of its hybrid propulsion package, more than 200 m2 of solar panels and a low volume to length hull.It is impossible not to notice such amazing exterior highlight of the vessel, as the glass-bottom pool that forms the centrepiece on the main deck aft. Across 175 square metres of storage space guest toys and tenders, including two guest tenders of 12 and 7 metres as well as two crew tenders of 7 metres are included. The forward helicopter pad is made for a H145 helicopter. In total 14 guests and 29 crew members can be accommodated onboard.
Gruppo Fipa launches 35m Maiora superyacht
Maiora Yachts, a member of Gruppo Fipa recently has launched its newest model, the Maiora 35 Exuma. Like the boat name mentions, this vessel is capable of a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of 28-30 knots. Exuma is powered by CAT C32 Acert 1925hp engines and has a range of 1,100 nautical miles and fuel capacity of 22,000 litres. You can see walnut, wengè, oak wood in the living zones, with grey and black in the galley. The main salon was designed to have no barriers and makes life onboard incredible.Straight bow, fully open stern, and waterjet propulsion are just some of the innovations of this avant-garde project. The superyacht is promised to be delivered this month, and she will first cruise the Mediterranean Sea before heading to the Bahamas.
Spotted: Kuwaiti billionaire’s $100 million yacht Samar in Malta
One of the largest yachts, which have ever been built in the UK, Samar has been recently seen in Malta. The 77-metre superyacht was built by Devonport Yachts in 2006. With a beam of 0.013 m and a draft of 0.04 m, she has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. This adds up to a gross tonnage of 2159 tons. She is powered by engines giving her a maximum speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.The motor yacht can accommodate 12 guests in 7 cabins. She has an opulent interior, designed by Joe Thome. Samar’s exterior design was created by H2 Yacht Design & Nick Meyers.Samar has an impressive pool, a gym, a cinema, and several bar areas. The superyacht features several toys, including a Mini Cooper and a Bell 407 helicopter.Samar approximately costs $100 million and is owned by Kuwaiti billionaire Kutayba Alghanim.
Alva Yachts has revealed 27.5 m electric catamaran Ocean Eco 90
The new all-electric solar catamaran model Ocean Eco 90 has been recently revealed by Alva Yachts, the German builder of electric catamarans and sail boats. With the length of 27.5 m, the boat is one of the finest examples of modern day superyacht building. Designed by Milan and Holger Henn of the German Studio Henndesign with naval engineering by the Hamburg based studio iYachts, Ocean Eco 90 is a 27.50-meter-long catamaran, with a beam of 14 meters and draft of 1.2 metres.Henndesign created this design because of the experiences that they have had with the new technology, creating a new design shaped around solar electric technology, which fits perfectly the philosophy of the brand. The models of Alva Yachts are always created around electric propulsion, not retrofitted. The outstanding catamaran’s design made Ocean Eco 90 shortlisted for Concept Under 40 Metres Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2020.The project of Ocean Eco 90 had been completed, so the multihull yacht is expected to launch in late 2021. Now the moulds for the hull and superstructure are being finished. The superstructure is covered with over 200 square meters of solar panels and there are two versions available: with hybrid or full electric propulsion. The boat will have an estimated cruising speed of 8-10 knots and a top speed of 16-18 knots.
