UK-based designer Andy Waugh presents new superyacht concept named Expedition.
Expedition is a high-volume 75m explorer yacht with unparalleled levels of accommodation and a range of features usually only seen on yachts above 90m LOA. The initial specification was developed in collaboration with a potential client whose high expectations inspired the arrangement of the vessel.
On bridge deck the yacht boasts a full size, permanent helipad and heli-garage able to accommodate the Eurocopter 135 and on the owner’s deck beneath an infinity pool measuring 10m long, 4m wide and 1.5m deep. The large upper deck houses a fully equipped spa with sauna, steam room and massage room. Aft of the spa, on top of the helicopter garage is a large, open sun deck with panoramic views, forward is another smaller sun deck with a Jacuzzi.
Forward of the main saloon are the formal dining room and cinema whilst the owner’s suite itself is situated as far forward as possible to retain privacy and maximize the interior accommodation. Guest accommodation with 2 VIP cabins and 4 guest cabins is situated on the main deck along with a gym and access down to the beach club located aft on the lower deck. A tender garage housing two 11m tenders, rescue boat and jet-skis are forward of the engine room with crew accommodation towards the bow.
The concept's styling uses strong graphical elements and long sweeping curves to disguise the high levels of internal space and potentially ungainly helicopter and swimming pool features. Dividing the bulk of the yacht with graphics in this manner helps create an impression that the vessel is light and dynamic. Aspects of the styling are futuristic and radical but combine to give an impression of an unthreatening, classic yacht design. Both smoothly curved surfacing and sharp edges have been incorporated to create interesting and unique sculptured effects centered around balconies amidships.
With a range of 5000 Nautical miles at a cruising speed of 15 knots, Expedition fulfils all aspects of the client’s specification without compromising on styling or the day to day functionality of the vessel. At an estimated build cost of around 100,000,000.00 euro the design offers unparalleled value in a compact and easily manageable package.

Hull No. 10238 was launched yesterday during a private ceremony. This yacht became the first T52 with a hybrid propulsion system that will allow it to choose a more efficient cruising mode, curbing both consumption and environmental impact. When cruising in electric diesel mode, the T52 can indeed reach a range of up to 7,600 nautical miles, and remain at anchor up to 10 hours relying on the batteries only. Her two MTU 16V2000M86 engines, however, will also allow her to reach a maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 3,600 nautical miles in traditional navigation mode.The exterior was penned by Francesco Paszkowski Design, the interiors were also designed by FPD in cooperation with Margherita Casprini.She features a beach club that develops over three levels, the large pool, that can easily be concealed thanks to an ingenious up-down movable floor that further extends the available deck surface when the pool is not being used. She also features an al fresco lounge, which is situated on the upper deck and a 24-meter-long sundeck. “This is a very much awaited-for moment. Seeing one of our vessels touch the water is always incredibly exciting for us, but when this happens with the first one in a new line, the excitement is even greater. The biennial Swan European Regatta will take place on 19–23 July in the Airisto sea area, and the Forum Marinum Maritime Centre will provide the setting for the ashore programme. The regatta is expected to attract a fleet of more than 50 yachts and a large crowd enjoying the show, with the event weekend offering plenty of exciting activities to the visitors in the Forum Marinum area.This event is organized by the City of Turku, Turku Yacht Club, Forum Marinum Maritime Centre and Sunborn Events, jointly with Nautor Swan and its sports division, ClubSwan Racing. “I’m glad that Turku can once again host this wonderful maritime event. Hylas will present the new M49 at the upcoming 2023 Miami International Boat Show. According to the shipyard, she is a spacious, fuel-efficient, fast, and exceptionally well crafted yacht. The M49 will join her smaller sistership, the M44 as part of Hylas’s power lineup. The M49 was designed in conjunction with New Zealand firm Salthouse. Following the purchase of Mulder’s fourth facility in Enkhuizen in February last year, a team of the Mulder craftspeople was put together to start constructing the seventh hull of the ThirtySix series, which is now well on its way.“Now having entered her typically efficient building time, she was ready to be turned on 3rd February, and the process went off without a hitch,” states the shipyard on social media. Hull seven of the series is expected to be delivered in 2024.Like her predecessors, she has the exterior design by Claydon Reeves, and naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. She can accommodate up to ten guests across five cabins, and seven crew members in four cabins.She is equipped with twin Caterpillar engines and has a maximum speed of 17 knots and cruise at 15. Mulder Shipyard was established in 1938 by Dirk Mulder. With a Mulder still at its helm, this traditional family business can attribute its excellent reputation to the classic Super Favorite Cruisers, the later Favorite Superieur and a wide range of custom and semi custom motoryachts.
