On the waves and on the track, Riva continues to write the history of the nautical world, leaving a never-ending wake of emotions. The latest masterpiece is the magnificent new Riva 110’ Dolcevita, which debuted at the Yacht Club de Monaco on the occasion of the Grand Prix Historique.
Riva 110’ Dolcevita immediately captivates the gaze, which sweeps along of the hull characterised by a combination of aesthetic rigour and sportiness, with a design enhanced by shaped glass windows and chrome inserts. Of particular impact is the expansive hull glazing with integrated portholes and, on the deck, the floor-to-ceiling windows that extend the entire length of the saloon, made of glass panes framed by a steel structure: a true crystal palace on the sea. This majestic flybridge, over 33.5 metres in length, is the result of a collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, the studio founded by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta that exclusively designs the entire Riva fleet, the Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee, chaired by Piero Ferrari, and the Engineering Department.
“‘Dolcevita’ indicates a period and a style that could only be associated with a yacht of unrivalled beauty, one whose appeal will resonate in the yachting world for decades to come,” commented Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group CEO. “We chose Monte Carlo for its debut, because this is one of the most ‘Dolcevita’ locations in the world, and the Grand Prix Historique, which is an event where legends meet. ‘Dolcevita’ conjures up a dream world that the Riva 110’, in all its splendour, personifies to perfection. It pays tribute to a wonderfully carefree period of history, brought back to life in a magnificent vessel that is the perfect synthesis of the traditional and the modern.”
From 11th to 13th May, yacht owners and vintage car enthusiasts, fascinated by the impressive combination of four-wheeled legends and the new masterpiece of the sea, had a chance to admire the new flagship of the Riva fleet presented in its world premiere – and already a big commercial success – at the Yacht Club de Monaco, featuring a number of extremely rare and gorgeous specimens of Ferrari Classic and a memorable event inspired by the “Dolce Vita” theme.

Described as 'truly European project’, the yacht features fully-aluminium construction, with both exteriors and interiors developed by Dutch studio Guido de Groot, along with naval architecture by the Dutch studio Ginton Naval Architects. Furthermore, the technical on-board solutions employ work by Siemens and Schottel. The yacht offers accommodation to up to six guests within a master suite and two guest doubles on the lower deck. The crew capacity on-board makes 4 people. The indoor areas of the main deck include a spacious salon furnished with a large L-shaped sofa, a dining area and an open galley behind the wheelhouse. Two comfortable lounge areas both forward and aft lay on the main deck, as well. On the flybridge, there is the second pilot station with sun loungers, a bar area and a dining area, designed for outdoor relaxation.Equipped with two Schottel STP 150 FP azimuth thrusters, the yacht is driven by a hybrid system. The system deploys traditional diesel engines along with an electric engine supplied by generators or batteries. That ensures low diesel consumption and limits environmental impact, as well as increases comfort on-board through reduced noise and vibrations both at anchor and while cruising. Furthermore, the yacht also comes equipped with both gyroscope- and fin- anti-rolling stabilising systems. The launch of Vanadis demonstrates the Italian boatbuilder's move towards building more environmentally efficient, lower consumption superyachts as the motor yacht is the first vessel in CCN's new 'E-Prop' line of hybrid propulsion crafts.CCN’s CEO Diego Michele Deprati explains:The Vanadis opens up a new era for CCN. We want to be pioneers in promoting a cultural revolution that we deem essential to truly respecting our planet. He highlights:Green technology' is the way ahead our shipyard has chosen for the future. The new “E-Prop” range has been born with a view to widening and deepening current research on innovative technological devices and solutions, with the final goal of safeguarding the Earth, which has now become an imperative. Thanks to her double CAT C9.3 B engines, Vanadis reaches the top speed at 12.5 knots and cruises at 8 knots under electric mode. She is also fitted with a set of AKASOL lithium-ion batteries (175 kWh), allowing her to remain at anchor at zero emissions for up to 17 hours in a row and to cruise at limited speed for up to 120 minutes, depending on the power load. The launch of Vanadis demonstrates the Italian builder's course towards more environmentally efficient, lower consumption superyachts, as Vanadis is the first vessel in CCN's new 'E-Prop' line of hybrid propulsion crafts. The general move towards eco-efficient yacht production has been recently on trend, for instance, with Dutch builder Feadship, opening new eco-friendly facility in Amsterdam or introducing new 65m concept Silence with plastic removal system on-board.

Oceanco’s sailing yacht Black Pearl and motor yacht DAR have won the highest honours at the World Superyacht Awards, 2019. Black Pearl took home the award for ‘Best Sailing Yacht of 60m and above’, while DAR won the ‘Best Displacement Motor Yacht of 2,000 GT and Above’. Furthermore, both yachts took home the coveted ‘Best Yacht of the Year’ awards.Marcel Onkenhout, CEO of Oceanco, comments: We are thankful to all of the team members and myriad individuals responsible for the execution of both of these yachts. Moreover, we are thankful for the trust given to us by the Owners of Black Pearl and DAR to build the extraordinary yachts that they envisioned.Launched in 2016, the Black Pearl holds the title of the largest sailing yacht in the world. Inspired by Perini Navi's 88-metre Maltese Falcon, the Black Pearl features similar structure with three rotating masts, while the yacht is capable of crossing the Atlantic burning just 20 litres of fuel thanks to alternative power sources. The Black PearlThe Black Pearl’s striking exterior was designed by Nuvolari Lenard and Ken Freivokh, while her praised naval architecture was developed by Dyksra Architects, who had also previously worked on Maltese Falcon.A combination of smart and elegant high-tech design and modernised state-of-the-art DynaRig sailing system makes the Black Pearl a unique vessel. Her hull outline is trademarked with an exclusive wave-piercing bow featuring not only graceful appearance, but also fuel efficiency.Another key element of Black Pearl's development was her solar sails, which can actually produce energy whilst the yacht is underway thanks to solar panels built within the fabric of the sail. DARThe 90-metre motoryacht DAR, with edgy exterior styling by DeBasto Design has an unprecedented exterior glass decoration of nearly 24 tons and nearly 400 square metres. Her detailed interior by Nuvolari Lenard works well with the exterior by taking advantage of the extraordinary floor-to-ceiling views from nearly everywhere on board. In addition to head-turning aesthetics and advanced technology, DAR is the first yacht to ever achieve the Lloyd’s Integrated Bridge System (IBS) notation. The World Superyacht Awards is held annually by Boat International Media. This year, it took place in the heart of London, in Old Billingsgate, with nearly 600 guests on hand for the dinner/ awards event. For other nominees, click here. This year’s winners list includes among others 71-metre Haida 1929 for the Best Refitted Yachts and 63-metre Rossinavi Utopia IV for Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 40m and Above.

On May 16, 2019, Dutch builder Feadship opened officially its new eco-conscious superyacht facility in Amsterdam, with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands being the key figure of the ceremony. It is the builder’s second facility operated by Royal Van Lent, brought into operation after five years of planning, design and construction.Accommodating the general trend towards ever-larger superyachts, the facility was designed for construction and refit of Feadship superyachts of up to 160 metres in LOA. With its total volume of 425,000 cubic metres, the new facility measures 38 metres in height, allowing plenty of air above the yacht’s mast array.Feadship declares the new yard ‘the most eco-friendly superyacht yard in the world’ thanks to its eco credentials, namely energy efficiency, heating by local waste-to-energy sources and LED lighting. What is more, the main building roof is covered with over 2,000 solar panels, for generation of estimated 550,000 kWh of energy yearly. The Amsterdam site will become Feadship’s fourth facility and the second one to be operated by Royal Van Lent, along with the Kaag Island yard. The two premises will share the same management by LVMH Group and the workforce of 450. LVMH Group managing director, Antoni Belloni highlights: This new facility will allow Feadship to stay at the cutting edge of innovation and continue to build superyachts that will change history.Following the opening, Queen Máxima viewed nineteen classic yachts presented on the Feadship quay and met young graduates of the Feadship Academy. The yard's operation has already began earlier this year, with a 110-metre Feadship Anna undergoing refit works at the yard in Amsterdam, while 93-metre Lady S has become the first yacht completed at the newest facility. A couple of days prior to the opening, the latest Feadship unit, a 88-metre Project 816 was moved to the new facility for completion.

Turkish builder Mazu Yachts has revealed interiors of its first 24.5-metre Mazu 82 unit, designed by Istanbul-based studio Tanju Özelgin. Built for a Turkish owner, the first Mazu 82 will be trademarked with the brand’s recognisable expansive open decks and three state rooms designed by Tanju Özelgin. Customary design was a key piece of the sale of the Mazu 82. With large hullside windows and triple Volvo Penta IPS power, the yacht will make the most of Mazu’s carbon composite sandwich construction. The 24.5-metre yacht is the largest one yet built by Mazu, following successful introductions of 38-, 42-, and 52-foot yachts, all designed by the yard’s founder Halit Yukay. This is the first Mazu developed by a dedicated interior designer to optimise the yacht’s on-board spaces, bringing them a special sensibility. The Mazu 82 combines clean profile lines with expansive decks, hallmarks of the Mazu line. Özelgin worked with Mazu’s generous volume and large hullside windows to continue the vibe to the amidships, full-beam master, which will combine subtle textures, muted colours, and both direct and indirect light to create a relaxing space to solitude for the owners. A master VIP-cabine will have an elegant en-suite facilities, and big wardrobe easily for extend times aboard. Two additional staterooms will round out the guest accommodations. Özelgin says: The main challenge of designing yacht interiors is that the space mostly never stands still and is constantly surrounded by water. This aspect will direct your decisions of which materials to use, the weight and scale of every piece of furniture, and whether or not the furniture is anchored to the decks or otherwise built in: safety also plays a very important role in these decisions. Such factors rarely have an impact on the design of homes and hotels, yet Özelgin approached them with his creative method, resulting in relaxing and elegant ambience, a soothing combination of warm light and inviting textures that enhances time spent on board. In contrast to many yacht interiors constantly reminding owner and guests that they are spending time at sea, Mazu 82 design concept seeks to optimise the sea experience on-board. In this design, the presence of the sea and the movement it imparts to the boat carry that vibe throughout the onboard experience. Özelgin explains:The space has to be as compact and light as possible without losing the illusion of feeling at home or in a nice hotel. This was one of our key aspects during the design phase of the yacht: to create a space which won’t let you feel as on a yacht but more as if you were in your own house with all the familiarity and comfort which comes with it.The yacht is powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system (1350 –1.000hp x3), which is expected to offer excellent performance maximum speed of 40 knots and cruising efficiency at 35 knots as well as easy handling and maneuverability around the docks. Representing the builder’s current flagship, Mazu 82 will be delivered in summer 2019. MazuYachts designs, produces and markets luxury ‘hard-top and open’ motor yachts since 2011, known for sleek and aggressive looks and made with cold-molded system. Mazu Yachts Hi-tech shipyard facilities are located in Yalova, disposing of 4,000 sqm. of indoor and 1,200 sqm. of outdoor areas.
