Last weekend, Lurssen have launched the 74-meter Aurora at their facility in Rendsburg, Germany.
Previously known to the public as Project Thor, the yacht was commissioned back in the first quarter of 2014 through Moran Yacht & Ship with a 2016 expected delivery date. With an interior and an exterior by Winch Design, the 74-meter Aurora, known internally as Project Gatsby, is expected to be delivered to her owner before the end of the year.
Powered by twin MTU engines, Aurora stretches over a beam of 13.2 meters, she will reach a top speed of 18 knots and cruise at 16 knots.
The last Lurssen yacht to bear the name Aurora was a 61-meter yacht also designed by Winch Design launched in 2004 under the name Phoenix for the late Jan Kulczyk.
In 2009, Phoenix was listed for sale asking €65 million and then sold in 2010 at an asking price of €55 million, ahead of the delivery of the 90-meter Lurssen, Phoenix 2. Following the sale, she was renamed to Aurora. In February 2015, she was listed for sale again asking €49,750,000 and then sold a little over a year later at the same asking price. The 61-meter yacht has since been refitted and is now known as Avanti.
Casper Marelis, one of the three finalists in Boat International Media’s “Young Designer of the Year Awards", has introduced project Equal. The design of MY Equal is based on the owners request of having a yacht with two equally looking tenders. The tenders should complement the exterior styling of the yacht so that’s where Marelis started this design task. The result is a low profile 80 metre yacht with dedicated decks for (water) sports, parties, relaxing and an evening around the fireplace. The owner will be able to get to this luxury with a limousine tender and board in comfort and safety due to the easy access boarding system. The second sporty general tender can be used for fishing and day long exploring. All bring their equal shares to the owners yachting experience.Earlier the concepts of Harun Kemali, Dani Santa, Alexander Fogg and Ricardo Pilguj were presented.
