Companies from 68 countries are on board. Nine hands-on activities and theme worlds invite sports enthusiasts and sea lovers to put their hand to the tiller themselves, get on the board, dive in, paddle or simply listen to exciting reports and exchange ideas with like-minded people. Here is our list of yachts that can’t be missed. Princess S7223.09mPrincess YachtsThe all-new Princess S72 is the latest addition to Princess Yachts' S Class family. Her sleek lines with full-length hull windows is a result of collaboration of the Princess Design Studio, naval architects Olesinski and Italian design house Pininfarina. She is equipped with twin 1,650hp or 1,800hp MAN V12 engines and can reach up to 36 knots.Azimut S722mAzimutAt boot Düsseldorf Azimut will present the sporty new entrant in the S Collection. The 22 meter S7 features the exterior design by Alberto Mancini, and joins Azimut’s Low Emission Yacht category. It is a boat that combines a sporty spirit with reduced environmental impact, made possible because the S7 draws on the most technologically advanced solutions in the yacht industry, involving the extensive use of carbon fiber to reduce the boat’s overall weight, a highly efficient propulsion system powered by three Volvo IPS engines, and perfectly optimized hull lines designed by P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture. Pearl 7221.99m Pearl YachtsAfter the supremely popular Pearl 62, the larger sistership Pearl 72 is a yacht with distinctively British design. Her exterior features the sharp lines by Dixon Yacht Design, the interiors tend toward flexibility with a selection of three styles, each curated by Kelly Hoppen CBE. In terms of layout, the Pearl 72 has two master cabins. One is forward with a private entrance, as typically seen on much larger yachts, and the second is full beam amidships. Ferretti 58018.24mFerretti Yachts The new flybridge Ferretti Yachts 580 has ideal features for an intimate and comfortable experience of the sea in perfect Ferretti Yachts style. 74m Foiling Yacht Plectrum Revealed by Lazzarini Design
Lazzarini Design surprised us again with its newest concept Plectrum, a 74-meter superyacht powered by a foiling system inspired by America’s cup sail yacht (Prada’s 2023 model). The superyacht runs on three hydrogen-powered motors (fuel cells), 5000hp each (15,000 hp in total) and can reach an estimated maximum speed of 75 knots. After 15 knots the yacht can lift above the water surface. The yacht spreads across four decks and can accommodate 12 guests across six cabins, and an owner suite, which is located on the main deck. She features a swimming pool, a helipad and helicopter hangar and a spacious garage, which can accommodate two tenders, water toys and a car. Credits: Lazzarini Design
Net Zero Superyacht Announced by Sanlorenzo in Düsseldorf
In 2023 Sanlorenzo, award winner of the 'Sustainability Excellence Award 2022', is the Project Partner of the Blue Innovation Dock, the Boot Düsseldorf platform that brings together voices and projects dedicated to sustainability, priority for the future not only of yachting. At the press-conference, hosted yesterday, Massimo Perotti, CEO of Sanlorenzo, announced that the shipyard is working on a launch of a net zero superyacht in 2027. Sanlorenzo Boot Dusseldorf stand designed by Piero LissoniThese are projects of absolute technological innovation that will be made possible thanks to exclusive strategic agreements with energy giants such as Siemens Energy. Despite the fact that yachting accounts for only 0.22% of the total GHG emissions of the entire shipping sector, (International Maritime Organisation, 2020), the introduction of innovations and technologies to reduce the environmental impact of yachts is becoming an increasingly central part of the Sanlorenzo Group's Research and Development department's business plan. After the exclusive agreement signed with Siemens Energy for the development and integration of combined reformer/fuel cell modules into the power supply system for hotellerie functions on yachts between 24 and 80 meters in length, and after the decision announced in September 2022 to develop such a system for the specific requirements of the new 50Steel, the Sanlorenzo Group can today state that the project's progress is proceeding right as planned. The testing phase of the first reformer/fuel cell modules has begun, while the basic design of the methanol/water supply, power management, condensation and ventilation systems has just been completed. At present, the components of the complete system that will be installed on board the first 50Steel unit in the Sanlorenzo shipyard in La Spezia at the beginning of 2024 are under preparation. Concurrently, the project team is engaged in the Risk Assessment of the entire hotel power generation system together with Lloyd’s Register.Once completed, this innovative application will represent the first concrete step in the generation of carbon-neutral power from new-generation fuels (E-methanol and bio-methanol) for the entire yachting industry. At the same time, Sanlorenzo is already thinking about a second step: the development of a carbon-neutral power generation system, with a substantial increase in the power developed by the reformer/fuel cell modules. This will make low-speed, wide-range navigation possible in carbon neutrality conditions through the hybrid propulsion system, overcoming the current limitations of systems, which in zero emission mode (main engines and generators off) can only rely on the modest energy capacity of the batteries. This second step will also require a technological leap in the yacht's structure and plant configuration.Sanlorenzo's R&D and technical department engineers together with Lloyd’s Register will tackle this challenge by focusing on the development of high capacity structural tanks suitable for the new fuel. These will be compatible with the limited space available on board and will take into account the strict regulations currently applied to large methanol transport vessels. The ultimate goal for Sanlorenzo includes an even more ambitious third step: the design and construction of a superyacht powered solely by green methanol. The generation of the power needed to sail at maximum speed will therefore no longer be tied to diesel engines, but rather will be based on a combination of fuel cells and internal combustion engines powered by green methanol.Sanlorenzo was founded in 1985 in Viareggio by yacht builder Gionvanni Jannetti. In 2005, Massimo Perrotti became the majority shareholder in the shipyard. Sanlorenzo builds yachts ranging from 28.60 to 62 meters in length. Credits: Sanlorenzo
27m Infynito 90 Presented by Ferretti Yachts
At boot Düsseldorf Ferretti Yachts presented the first model in the new range Infynito, which was announced in August 2022. The new range, which contains the brand’s initials (FY) in its name, introduces a style that gives shape to owners’ new needs: seamless contact with the surrounding environment, more sustainable materials and navigation, custom detailing, and a direct link with the sea and the sky. Ferretti Yachts Infynito is the result of collaboration between the Strategic Product Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. The exterior design and hulls are by Filippo Salvetti, while the interiors are the work of Ideaeitalia. The first model in the new range to debut in 2023 is Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90. With an overall length of 26.97 meters, but Lh under 24 meters and therefore classified as a recreational craft with CE certification, and a maximum beam of 7.33 meters, the yacht is designed to give cruising enthusiasts an incomparable new experience. The yacht has over 100 sq. m of open-air living spaces (almost 50% more than the segment average) and over 140 sq. m of interiors (over 25% more than the average), including a main deck and a skylounge featuring particularly impressive volumes. Owners can choose between different layouts for each deck, ranging from open-plan spaces to more formal settings reserved for day and night time privacy, offering an experience that can be fully customized according to personal needs.“The Ferretti Yachts Infynito range addresses a segment that needed new concepts. The chief aim of the interior design process was to heighten the perception of space by creating virtuous layouts in which harmony reigns between the sophisticated aesthetic impact and the management of spaces that are always functional and efficient. Ferretti Yachts Infynito is designed for owners who are increasingly seeing their yacht as a new place to live in, as an extension of their homes,” comments Ideaeitalia’s Davide Bernardini and Alessio Battistini.Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 can be fitted with a pair of MAN V12 engines rated up to 1,800 mHP (in the optional version), driving the yacht to a top speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots (preliminary data). The new range will also introduce F.S.E.A. technology (Ferretti Sustainable Enhanced Architecture) to the industry, a package of environmentally friendly cruising solutions. They include a solar roof that generates electricity and charges a lithium battery pack to power onboard services. The Ferretti Group, led by Chief Executive Officer Alberto Galassi, is now one of the world’s leaders in the construction and sale of luxury yachts and pleasure vessels, with a unique portfolio of brands: Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Pershing, Itama, Mochi Craft, CRN, Custom Line and Wally.Credits: Ferretti Group
Pardo Yachts Expands Its Endurance Range With the New Endurance 72
The worldwide preview of Pardo Endurance 72 took place at the Düsseldorf. The new project follows the same philosophy of its predecessor, the Endurance 60, focusing on long-distance, eco-speed and performance-oriented design without compromising safety and low fuel consumption. Endurance 72 is a yacht built around individual owners’ needs for enjoying long periods in maximum comfort, in both displacement and planning modes.Endurance 72 offers two different interior layout options: galley-up or galley-down. The first option features a galley on the main deck with four cabins and five bathrooms below deck. The second layout features a galley, three cabins and four bathrooms all located below deck favoring a more spacious main deck area. The standard layout features a galley located aft on the main deck. In front of the galley, the dining area opens completely onto the terrace via a side door. Forward, a large sofa with chaise lounge and a smaller sofa make up the lounge/relaxation area for viewing the flatscreen TV that also connects with the helm station with 270-degree visibility. Here, the sofa and pilot seat are integrated around a large storage unit with drawers. A staircase amidships leads to the day-head and to the owner’s and VIP suites for maximum privacy, while a forward staircase leads directly to the two ensuite cabins with twin beds. Alternatively, the galley-down layout introducing Country Kitchen is the true novelty stemming from the collaboration with BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design. This innovative layout features a Country Kitchen with an American-style breakfast table located below deck, with direct access to the crew area. An in-depth analysis of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has resulted in a hull shape optimized for IPS propulsion, maneuverability, safety, comfort and reduced fuel consumption. The IPS drives provide Dynamic Positioning capability for easy mooring and on-point maneuvers, even with a reduced crew. The so-called “warped” bottom, with a deadrise angle progressively reduced from bow to stern, ensures hydrodynamic efficiency when planing in rough seas. The relatively forward center of gravity, in combination with a keel line arising towards the stern, helps to reduce the amount of energy dissipated in the wake in displacement mode, as well as the power required to overcome the “hump”, the transition phase between displacement and planning modes. The three available engine options (2 x Volvo D13 IPS 1050 Standard,1200 or 1350 as Optional) can easily be installed in the engine compartment without any modifications. In addition, the engine room is already prepared for the installation of a hybrid engine. The first Endurance 72 will be launched in Spring 2024.Cantiere del Pardo was founded in 1973 in Italy. Pardo Yachts, the brand of Cantiere del Pardo dedicated to powerboats, was born in 2016. The first model, the Pardo 43, was launched in 2017.Credits: Pardo Yachts
